Akita Pictures - Own an Akita Puppy Today

Akitas make prime guard dogs and excellent companions as they inherently have the ability to protect without being told. This breed has an attitude of taking charge of things, which is why akita owners must be able to show their dogs who the boss is. Additionally, akitas are highly intelligent and are easy to train. However, when training these dogs, motivation (not force) is the key to get akitas to follow. These dogs are fiercely loyal to their human companions and are wary of unfamiliar people. Unlike other active dogs, akitas are very clean by nature and do not emit a "doggy" smell that other breeds do.

If you are interested in getting an akita puppy for yourself, there are many breeders out there who are selling akitas. Apart from breeders, there are also many animal rescue centers and shelters who currently have akitas that are up for adoption. Many of these breeders, centers, and shelters have websites where you can browse through akita pictures so that you can choose which puppy you would like. Akita pictures enable you to see which puppy you might be interested in without having to leave the comforts of your home. Additionally, these pictures can help provide you with a visual of the puppy prior to you actually getting him and bringing him home.

However, note that akita pictures may be misleading as they can be retouched to make puppies look healthier and more adorable. While it's fine to click through dozens of akita pictures to see which puppy you'd like, it would still be better for you to see the puppy in the flesh. Keep in mind that many scammers who sell dogs over the Internet simply ask potential customers to just go through the pictures on their websites and choose a dog. After this, these scammers have customers pay upfront but either refuse to let customers see the actual puppy or promise to ship the puppy right away but don't actually ship anything to the unwitting customers. Other scammers do ship puppies, but customers find themselves with unhealthy puppies that are the products of puppy mills.

To avoid getting yourself into this situation, don't just bank on looking at akita pictures. Insist to the breeder or seller that you would like to see the akita puppy for yourself. When looking at akita puppies in the flesh, be sure to observe their surroundings, the breeder's demeanor towards the puppies, the way the puppies behave when they are together, and their behavior when they are on their own. Check if the puppies' area is clean and spacious enough for them to move around in. Be on your guard if the breeder tries to make excuses for anything from why a puppy is shy to why the puppies' surroundings are the way they are. Additionally, check how each puppy behaves when alone and when interacting with his siblings. This will help you gauge which puppy is best suited for you.

Additionally, akita puppies must meet certain physical standards, which you will also have to take note of when you take a look at actual puppies. Akitas must have strong, straight legs with hocks and elbows that neither turn inwards nor outwards. Their ears must be triangular and carried high towards the sides of their skulls. Their noses must be black, and their eyes must be dark brown, deep set, and triangular. Akitas' tails must be thick, curled over their backs, and carried high.
