Mostly due to the fact the pekingese is extremely loyal, and loving. They make great family pets as well as for single or especially seniors that are alone.

Pekingese are playful as well as active; they need playful stimulation to maintain a sharp mind and healthy body. They are small but tough some pekingese will play a game or activity they love a long time. Pekingese are active, so if you are the active type and like to get out and walk. This little guy will be there right with you. Trips to the park, walks around the block, family outings, yes he is there he/she will do and go where ever, and do what you like to do. Pekingese can be adventurous, curious creatures.

Contrary to some beliefs and myths about pekingese and or the toy breed of dogs, the pekingese is a quiet breed, Pekingese will usually only bark or show signs of aggression when there are strange people around, or something is out of place. However when they become familiar with the strange person or difference they return to their normal loving selves.

A Pekingese does require daily grooming this should be considered as well in your choice to have one as a pet. The long coat requires daily brushing and combing to keep it free of tangles, and mattes. All of these things should be taken into consideration when you choose your Pekingese.
