Pekingese Interesting Facts and History of the Pekingese

As recorded in the pages of history tucked away, and not usually found by most people. Are some interesting facts about the pekingese breed of dog? For example; there was a pekingese that survived the titanic shipwreck he and his owner were on lifeboat number three. Three dog breeds were on the ship the night that it went down all were reported to have survived.

Many famous people move stars have had pekingese as pets as well a member of the royal family. Because this breed is a status symbol, it represents royalty, and nobility.

And it is such a beautiful breed of dog.

Members of the emperors royal family over two- thousand years ago as well as the emperor himself. Carried the smallest of the pekingese breed in the sleeves of their robes. The pekingese also accompanied them on trips of important nature.

The pekingese because they were so small, was kept to guard the palace from the smallest of demons that might invade the palace. This was a belief of the Chinese people in ancient times. Demons and evil spirits walk the earth and would come and threaten the royal family or the emperor him self.

Pekingese were so revered that they were carried around the palace on pillows by servants, and had their own personal servants. To attend to their every need.

Pekingese were also taken on the trade routs in ancient times to be given as gift to the kings and royalty the Chinese traded with. This was a way of gaining the favor of the new trading country's leaders. After all who could resist the gift of a pekingese.

There are many tales, stories and legends as to how the pekingese became to be upon the earth, the most famous told story goes as follows. A young brave lion fell in love with a marmoset monkey, the both of them knew the union was not possible because of the difference in size.

Therefore the great lion went to the great God Budda and asked a favor. That he and his love be granted change in size so they might be together. Budda granted their wishes. The result of the union was and is the pekingese of ancient times and the present day. The pekingese breed has been around for over two thousand years.

There are many other stories and beliefs regarding origin of the pekingese however the stories nearly all involve a great lion. This is believed to be where the pekingese got the great main that form around it neck and chest. As in fact it does resemble the main of a lion, upon close examination.

The pekingese breed is truly an interesting creature; it has its place in the pages of human history. As well as a secure place in the future pages that have not come to pass.
