Life of a Pekingese

Pekingese Life of a Pekingese

A pekingese will have a long and happy life, if cared for properly.

Some reports from past Pekingese owners, have stated their Pekingese have lived for as many as six-teen-twenty-one years.
The quality of life a pekingese has with you depends mostly upon you. You will need to ensure, that he/she has everything he/she needs, to maintain that quality, love, food, water, care, interaction, conversation, affection, walks, play.

Love is one of the most important ingredients in the live of a Pekingese. He/she will crave love and to be loved, as well as giving love back to you the owner. Wherever the owner goes and what ever the owner does. A pekingese that is allowed to be and go with the owner is truly a happy well-contented pekingese.

All of these are major parts in a pekingese life. With the proper care there is no reason to expect that your Pekingese will not also enjoy and long and happy life together with you. Hopefully for the life span of sixteen to twenty one years or longer.

Regular Veterinarian care is an important part of his/her life as well. A pekingese puppy or full size pekingese will require some visits to the veterinarian. Shots, worm medicine and some tests may be required to maintain the health of the pekingese.

This should not be a cause for alarm. This is all part of the life of a pekingese, and your responsibility as an owner.

Many improvements in veterinarian medicine have made it possible to cure and or treat many different illnesses. Many of these illnesses were fatal in the past. Some of the illnesses were even very painful for both the owners and pekingese. As the owners could only watch while their little friends slipped away.

New treatments and a variety of new medications now allow veterinarians to give owners new hope for the more serious conditions and illnesses. The treatments are now much less painful some medications come in flavors. Other medicines and treatments have been improved to take less and work much better than in the past.

Pekingese and other breeds as well can have life threating illnesses, however if you chose your pekingese from a good responsible breeder then you should have no problems.

A good responsible breeder will only allow their dams to breed once a year, or even less. This give the dam time between litters to rebuild her body weight and valuable nutrients she needs to have a good and healthy littler in the future.

If a dam is let to or made to reproduce twice a year or every season she comes in. Then the puppies will be sickly and can have serious health risks in the future. This happens mostly in puppy mills where the dams are bred every season, for people who care only for MONEY.

Always try to buy your pekingese from an individual with less than six to eight pekingese, if possible go to the breeders home and look around. You want to look for clean surroundings. Try to make sure the dam and sire are both there to view. This way you can rest assured this breeder is not in any way considered a puppy mill.

You will receive a better quality puppy from this type of individual. Insure this breeder takes the puppy to a veterinarian before you purchase a puppy.

Sometimes a breeder will ask for a deposit to take the puppy to the veterinarian. This is within reason as long as you are informed of the condition of the puppy. And an explanation of what is wrong with the puppy, and the remainder of the deposit is returned.

All of these things will ensure a good quality of life for your Pekingese.
