Pekingese A Part of Your Family

Pekingese Pekingese A Part of Your Family

You have chosen a Pekingese to be a part of your family. Now it is your responsibility to make this little friend feel welcomed and love. Just as you would bring another person into your life to fill and empty spot that is lacking something, or a newborn child for that area of your life, to expand your family. This little pekingese can add things to you life as well. Companion ship, or maybe a pet for a child, or a reason for an older individual to keep from being lonely, what ever the reason you Choose the Pekingese, he/she will return all that it has in its little heart and more.

Expose the new little family member to each of the rest of the family. Let each one-take time holding and playing with the Pekingese. This will get him/her used to each person and the way they handle the Pekingese. Maybe designate a part of the care of the Pekingese to each family member. Therefore the pekingese will bond with all not just one member, most pekingese however will pick someone it likes more than others.

Daily try to do the same things with the pekingese, feeding, walking, play, grooming. The daily grooming should be a pleasant bonding experience, the Pekingese will enjoy the soft gentle touch, and this will help the Pekingese stay healthy and content. Grooming is relaxing for both you and the Pekingese. Let the pekingese know where he/she can go and what he/she can do. This includes where he/she is to sleep the Pekingese will want to sleep with you if possible, if this is not a soft pillow, or a ready made dogie bed will suffice.

Play, is important to a sound healthy pekingese, he/she needs stimulating play, and exercise. Food and drink need to remain in the same area of the home if the Pekingese has to hunt for its food it could become distressed. The pekingese will need to know where to go to potty, this should be some place in the home that is out of sight, a laundry room, wash room, corner of the kitchen the pekingese is a proud breed and does not want an audience.

You do not want this to be seen by guest when they visit. Certain areas that are off limits to the pekingese need to be addressed as well if for some reason you cannot allow them in these areas, you might install a puppy gate or simply teach the Pekingese no this is off limits.

A pekingese wants to be where you and all family members are there fore it will follow you around the house to make sure that everyone is OK and all is well within its world. A pekingese can get distressed when there is chaos, so try to keep a daily routine, or schedule. After you bring the Pekingese home this will help to make the Pekingese feel like one of the family, as well as help everyone adjust and get comfortable.

Take the Pekingese with you wherever you travel, if this is possible, they need to be exposed to other family members that do not live with you.

Other pets the other members have are a good experience as well, this teaches the Pekingese how to relate to other animals. Sometime it is not possible to travel with the Pekingese in this case you should leave him/her in the care of someone extremely responsible and trustworthy.

Preferably someone thou should leave him/her in the care of someone extremely responsible and trustworthy. Preferably someone the Pekingese is familiar with, this way no problems should arise.
