A veterinarian usually has to confirm that this one specific thing is what is causing the allergy. This can be difficult. As their can be many causes. Pekingese allergies are only rare cases but they do happen.

The most frequent and most common are food allergies. Foods your Pekingese consumes on a daily basis can cause allergies. Foods like beef or meats, eggs or milk, flour, as well as other thing used to make up the dog food contain all or most of these ingredients. You may need to put your Pekingese on a special diet that consists of only lamb and rice formulas. Or the veterinarian may have a food that is produced for pets with food allergies. The vet can give your Pekingese shots that will relive some of the discomfort caused by the allergies.

Pekingese as well as other pets can become allergic to things inside your home. Cleaning chemicals, soaps, fabric softeners, some kinds of carpet fresheners, even carpet cleaning chemicals can cause allergies in your Pekingese. This can also be a difficult task to determine which of these tings your Pekingese may be allergic to. If you're Pekingese is or has allergies you can purchase products that do not have these harsh chemicals in them that work just as well.

Pekingese can also be allergic to the many or one of the outside elements. Some grasses, certain kinds of dirt or a chemical that was used to treat the dirt. Like some form of weed killer, or a fertilizer. Insecticides used to keep fleas off your Pekingese can also be the source of the allergy. Vines or certain plants, maybe if eaten can cause allergies.

Therefore if you believe that the source is outside you can keep your Pekingese inside with you at all times. You want your Pekingese to be safe and healthy, so watch them closely. Should they begin to scratch or their skin look or become red and irritated, you will need to get them to a veterinarian as soon as possible.

The Pekingese can chew and scratch on itself and cause sores, these sores could become infected and then you will have more problems. This condition if left untreated can cause an infection in the skin and this will in turn become more expensive than the treatment of just an allergy. A skin infection will require antibiotics and possible a stay at the veterinarian to ensure the skin infection is healed. So please try to do all you can to treat the allergy before it becomes serious.
