Sometimes they will get in these moods were they will just start running around the yard, pekes love to run and play follow the leader. Having a big open area is a must for these kinds of dogs.

All though they do not understand the word fetch very well, you can teach them. We recommend squeaky toys, because when they bite them, they make noise. Also at times your dog will come up to you and bark and hop around like they are bursting with energy.

This means play 'a lot', when we say a lot this means all day. It is really fun to watch them as puppies, because one dog being chewed on will represent a squeaky toy. You have to watch them, because some of them will get really ruff when they get older. For instance one just may not feel like playing, when the other one will. This could lead to a dogfight, which is not pretty. They should not be allowed to do this, for one could hurt by the other.

Older dog should not be able to mingle with the younger ones. But in a way there are times that they all could be together, this would be when they are protecting something. You see pekingese, are pack hunters and will team up on other dogs, or what ever else comes in their yard.

They have many instincts of their ancestors.

Pekingese will love to play with you as well while in the house. They will scratch at your leg, or chew on your feet. Thus saying lets play, so take them and roll them around on the bed. Grab their head and cover their eyes most love it when you do that.

They may seem like they get upset but they will not hurt you. But watch out when they try to pinch you. As this may hurt a little depending on where they get you. They will show you when it is time to play, cause they will turn upside down on their backs and just wallow around. If you are a coffee drinker in the morning, be sure as to wear house shoes to protect your feet, because the little ones that are teething will start chowing on your toes.

Another great idea would be to buy a woofer ball for them, and put something in it that will not be harmful to them. Or something that they could easily get out and swallow. Dog food, or dog treats are what are most recommended.

Most Pekingese owners have been witnessed to several pekingese together at play. There is usually one who will instigate a game called the pekingese version of catch me. One will run up to another or several, and then it will dash off. So the others in suit will chase the first, this game goes on until they are exhausted or they catch their breath then they are off for another go at it.

These are just some of the talents that your pekingese has. As you will find more the longer you own them and interact with them. Some people have even video taped there dogs and sent them to funny animal shows and have won lots of money off of them. So if you don't own a pekingese you need to have one because they will be lots of fun to play with. They are also a big joy to watch.
