Pekingese can be very cunning creatures this is due to the fact they are one of the smartest of the dog breeds. They are problem solving capable. If a Pekingese sees another animal do something it will attempt to do the same things. Say for instance a Pekingese sees a cat gracefully jump over a fence it is enclosed in. the Pekingese will attempt to jump over the fence as well. Most Pekingese are excellent climbers.

They can and will use the fence as a ladder. Their legs and feet are very muscular therefore they have no problem climbing until they get over just as the cat did.

Pekingese will also figure out how to open gates and get threw fences. They might simply push on the gate until the opening is large enough to get their head threw. Once they can accomplish this they are as good as out and gone. A Pekingese will find weak spots in the fence such as holes of broken places in the fence. A friend once referred to this situation as one needed a fence that would hold jell-o. Then you could keep a Pekingese in side a fence that would do that.

Pekingese are as stated before problem solving creatures, if an owner were to leave something tasty or tempting on a kitchen table or cabinet the Pekingese will in fact solve a way to get to the tasty treats. They might push a chair away from the table enough to allow them room to get up on the chair then in turn up on the table itself. Allowing them access to what ever was left on the table.

If a Pekingese want to get to a person that it cannot reach for some reason they will find a way to climb to this person. They will use boxes close to the person or what ever they can find. Pekingese can also jump great distances you would not believe possible. Many owners have watched as Pekingese have jumped from windows of parked vehicles to get to them. Owners have also said they have watched as their Pekingese scaled fences when they went to walk their other dogs, because the Pekingese wanted to go as well.

A Pekingese will also find thins to climb on to get up to a window so it can see its owner that is inside the home. Owners have stated that one case a bar-b-q- pit was close to a window in the home, one afternoon while the owner was working at her computer the Pekingese was sitting atop the bar-b-q pit looking in at her from the outside. These are all examples of how cunning your little Pekingese can be when it puts its mind to something. The Pekingese are very resourceful at problem solving. Do not be surprised at what your little Pekingese is actually capable of doing. Once they set their minds to something there is no telling what the end result will turn out like.
