Pekingese Things a Pekingese Need

A Pekingese will need many things from you as a new member of your family. He/she will need love, care, food, water, shelter, active stimulating play, medical care, grooming, holding, walking, teaching, toys, a place to sleep, a place he feels loved and secure.

Love is the most important part of you relationship with you Pekingese with out love this loving little creature will not be secure around you or your family members. If your Pekingese does not feel secure it will most likely not respond to you or a certain family member. Pekingese Love almost everyone they come into contact with. There are of course exceptions to every situation. But overall they are for the most part one of the most loving of all Gods creatures.

Food and water are required daily, in the specific amounts required. Pekingese drink excessive amounts of water, so it should be checked frequently.

Care- a Pekingese needs a certain amount of care daily. Brushing and combing are a daily thing this will relax both you and the Pekingese. They will need to be bathed a time or two a month do not over do the bathing this could cause skin problems. Holding, petting, playing are all parts of the care as well.

And unfortunately you will have to clean up and dispose of the papers or puppy pads that you Pekingese relieve his/ her self on.

Walking and or playtime these should be separate. At play the Pekingese should be allowed to do what ever they want to stimulate themselves.

Toys or you should suffice for stimulating play activities.

They will grasp your hands in their mouths and hold but should never be allowed to get to rough. They will pull on clothing and or toys you are playing with. Or they may chase a toy across the room and retrieve, however that does not mean they will bring it back to you. They will take the toy and play with it themselves usually.

Keep away is a favorite, game witnessed by many Pekingese owners. Teaching and walking go hand in hand here. The Pekingese is better taught when you alone have their attention.

Most owners do most of their training while walking their Pekingese. This seems to work best for both Pekingese and owner.

Your home should be secure for both you and the Pekingese it should have a daily scheduled routine, chaos can be a burden on a Pekingese. If all is well in the home your Pekingese will be at rest. The Pekingese will also protect you and your home. The home belongs to the Pekingese as well; he will defend it if he has to.

Medical expenses at time will occur, there is the first series of puppy shots, or first shots a new owner will want their Pekingese to have. A monthly worming medication and or a heartworm preventative are a must. And occasionally a Pekingese will become ill and will need to see a veterinarian.

All of these things should make a happy appropriate home for you, your family and the Pekingese.
