Toy poodle grooming entails bathing your pet once a week. It is important to remember that toy poodles are considered as water dogs where they can shed water easily. You need to see to it that the coat is fully soaked in water, preferably lukewarm water, and prior to applying the pet shampoo. When shampooing your poodle, apply some gentle massage. Rinse thoroughly as any residue may cause irritation to your pet's skin. There are basically two ways in drying your pet's coat after bath- it's either you let it air dry naturally for a curly lock or you can choose to brush the coat while blow-drying for a smoother and fluffier coat.
As toy poodles are prone to ear infection, you have to pay attention to cleaning the ears of your pet. You can do this with a cotton swab or bud to gently clean the ears of your pet. Make sure also that the hair does not grow long top touch or get in the way of your pet's ears.
Include brushing the teeth as well as cleaning the gums in the regular grooming routine of your toy poodle. Grooming is something that is not optional but a mandatory requirement on your part if you are a responsible pet owner.
